    United States Representative District 9

  • Todd Long (REP)

  • ABORTION FUNDING BAN: Prohibiting the use of federal funds to pay for or provide insurance coverage for elective abortions?
  • SUPPORT

  • COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM: Legislation that ensures the integrity of our borders, fosters family reunification and provides a path to citizenship for the undocumented who have lived in the United States for a number of years, and do not have a criminal record?
  • OPPOSE
  • Candidate Comments: We don't follow the laws we have now. The President openly admits he will not enforce immigration laws so until we get a federal government that will actually honor and enforce the current laws, I dont see why the laws should be changed. We have a law that is supposed to ensure the integrity of the border and it is a primary responsibility of the President! I have no problem with illegal immigrants getting in line with everyone else to become citizens, but do not understand why they should be given preferential treatment for breaking our laws.

  • EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE: Reauthorizing the current provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to ensure that all public and nonpublic schoolchildren receive equitable services?
  • OPPOSE
  • Candidate Comments: I believe under our Constitution that Education is a state issue and do not see what great contribution the Department of Education has made after spending hundreds of billions of dollars. I believe each state has a responsibility to take great care of the children of this nation and I believe it is the federal government's job not to steal their money and their future which it is obviously doing!

  • MARRIAGE: Defining marriage as the exclusive union of one man and one woman?
  • SUPPORT

  • POVERTY-FOCUSED INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE: Maintaining and increasing funding for U.S. international humanitarian and development assistance to poor countries and communities?
  • OPPOSE
  • Candidate Comments: We are totally broke and have sold out our children and their future and need to get our financial house in order. We should as individuals try to care for God's children around the world. Self serving politicians bankrupting this nation to preserve their power is the worst think that could happen to the poor. Already food prices around the world are soaring because we are printing so much money and overspending causing massive inflation in food and energy prices which hurts the poor around the worldmore than anyone. I believe like our Founders who received wisdom from God and his blessing when forming this great nation, that the government's job is to protect freedom and man's God-given rights and it is our job as individuals to take care of one another out of love.

  • PRIORITY FOR THE POOR: Budget policies with adequate revenues to put a circle of protection around programs that serve poor and vulnerable people at home and abroad?
  • OPPOSE
  • Candidate Comments: I believe as Christians we do our very best to take care of poor people around the world and do missions and teach the good news of the Bible. I believe with a 15 trillion dollar national debt we are bankrupting the children and abandoning our children and our Constitution that is supposed to guarantee us a limited federal government. I believe God wants us as individuals and the Church to care for the poor and it is government's role to protect freedom not determine who gets what. if peopelewant to have state progrmas to provide for the poor tremendous because that is their own money and I am all for it!

  • RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: Allowing individuals and businesses, including religious organizations, to offer employee benefits and services to the public in accordance with their religious beliefs?
  • SUPPORT
